about

The single; Christmas Eve, was written in 2016. In early 2023 the band set themselves a challenge of writing three more numbers to make a Christmas EP. However, within a matter of weeks an 11 track album had been written and recording commenced in July following the release of the bands third album Four Sides Of The Circle.

As the band began to release singles and albums, it was always the intention to start work on a full band version of Christmas Eve, However, the starts never quite aligned at the right time to ensure a Christmas time release was possible and as such the song was placed on the back burner.

In early 2023, with the band having completed work on their third album Four Sides Of The Circle, drummer RIchard Pine confirmed he'd be relocating thus changing the dynamics of how the band would work in future.

With the pending change in circumstances on the horizon the band decided that Luke Williamson, Paul Iliffe and Luke Headland would work on an acoustic Christmas EP and set themselves a challenge of writing three new songs to join Christmas Eve on the release. Within a matter of weeks however the band had written a full album some of which would require drums. As a result Luke Headland picked up the sticks and put drums to the early demos that would go on to form Christmas With The Mariners consisting of 11 original compositions and three covers.

The band used their cover of Merry Christmas Everyone, originally release by Shakin' Stevens and written by Bob Heatlie, which they recorded back in 2021 with Pine and would add a version of Silent Night featuring Vanessa Williamson on vocals with Luke Williamson, and a cover of The Beatles' Christmas Time (Is Here Again).
